Aquaria: OST Goes Digital

The Aquaria Soundtrack has been released digitally via Bandcamp. Bandcamp is a pretty neat web service that allows users to stream and share music in addition to purchasing it for download.

<a href="http://infiniteammo.bandcamp.com/track/trailer">Trailer by Alec Holowka</a>

We’ve also set up a new shop with BigCartel.com. This service doesn’t require users to create a new account to order CDs and it also takes less of a cut from our profits. Let us know how you think it compares to Etsy in the comments! (I’m thinking about writing a comparison article on the pros and cons of each)

Lastly, a big thank you to all those who already bought the CD, many of who left really nice comments for us. While packing and shipping is a lot of work, it kinda feels like being Santa Claus due to all the positive feedback and warm vibes. Thank you! :)

We’re also looking into an automated way to give everyone who bought the physical CD a free digital download, so stay tuned for that.

Sounds great! Do I have to buy another OST at BigCartel for comparison now? ;)

You should post only a part of the track, not the whole track… ;)

The whole point of BandCamp is being able to stream the music. You can’t just post part of a track. :)

The entire album isn’t available for streaming BTW, the new stuff is only included with a full high-quality album download.

    Thanks so much you guys!
I got bummed when I forgot to leave a comment on etsy.

Aquaria is super rad, and thanks Alec for the Unity Tuts!!!

@7: We’re working on a way to get download codes to everyone who bought the album through Etsy already. Check back here soon for updates on that topic :)

My band has been using bandcamp for the past six months or so and it has been a great service! It’s basically our main band website now – our homepage at http://www.halomusic.net just redirects there or to our MySpace or Facebook pages. Bandcamp rules.

Not that it’s not a nice thought or anything, and not to be dense, but…couldn’t the purchasers of physical CDs just rip them to get a digital copy?

(I may or may not be a purchaser of a physical CD. We’ll see come my birthday. mwahaha!)

Yes, they most certainly can. But if we provide them with a free download now, they:

    A) don’t have to go through the trouble of ripping the CD
    B) don’t have to wait until the CD arrives to listen to the album

    Yeah what Alec said. :)
Definitely looking forward to a possible early download. :D Pity I bought the disc in a way that gives you less cash.. Oh well, hopefully the signed copy extras are enough ;)

^ We should be able to ship to Egypt, yes. We’ve shipped all over Europe and Asia already, so I don’t see why not.

Alec, you should totally write that article comparing Etsy vs. BigCartel. I’ve been thinking about rolling out a similar site to help people easily sell stuff online, and I’d be interested to read your thoughts.

I picked $12 for the digital download, seemed like a good number, although a word to the wise – lala.com is my prefered digital music vendor, and in that vein, if I would’ve been able to listen to it in its entirety first (as lala.com generally allows, and while it’s not that I haven’t heard it in game of course, but in abstract things always feel a little different) I would’ve been able to more accurately pick a number that represented my level of appreciate of the album itself, instead of just 12. Still. Super excited to hear the whole thing. Loved the game.

^ Bandcamp will also generally let you listen to the whole album, but in this case I chose to keep the new tracks hidden for now.

    Thanks for buyin’! :)

Some more samples from the OST really wouldn’t hurt you :/
I mean, if not for a couple of full songs, then 30secs of each. There is no fun in buying a pig in a poke.

^ Hey buddy, if you go here: http://infiniteammo.bandcamp.com/ you can sample about 45 of the 50 tracks in their entirety. Guess you missed that? :)

I placed an order for the physical CD as soon as I saw it; physical CD + signed by the musician + indie support and for that price? Bargain hardly begins to cover it.
I’m sorry you’ve run into so many issues getting things up and running but I’m thrilled with what you’re offering us end-users ^^

Not received my CD yet but I’m in the back of beyond (read, the U.K.) so I’m certainly not feeling hard done by ;) Excited to the Nth degree, especially since I received an email saying it’d shipped a couple of days ago. Now I just have to wait on the christmas-influenced royal-mail :(

I, too, am getting a little worried about the shipments….

I have the same status as Federico and no idea where my package is. It’s been two weeks but I’ve gotten packages from other continents in this time.

    Hi Chauncellor,
Packages can take 6-12 business days (this does not include weekends or holidays) from the time of shipping to arrive, and sometimes longer depending on holidays, postal delays, the country of destination, etc. Email me at chrissy at infiniteammo dot ca with your order info and I can look into it and see when it shipped off. Thanks!
