Here’s the latest screenshot from our progress on Heroes and Villains!

Chris and I teamed up to put this together. I did some quick ‘n dirty 3d modelling, and Chris setup the scene with me and made some textures and particles. It was intense, because we were trying to finish for a deadline while I was busy with a bunch of Aquaria work! This probably doesn’t represent the final game’s style exactly, but it was still fun to put it together as a milestone.
Meanwhile, Ian was working on gameplay and our first prototype level. Things are progressing pretty quickly, even though we’re all insanely busy.
A big thanks goes out to Adam Saltsman who helped us plan out the best shot we could make based on the very limited assets that we had available. (Katie is lost at sea again)
P.S. There was a new video blog, but it ended up on the bit-blot site. You can check it out here.
As always, your feedback and critique is welcome and appreciated.

Mr. Marvelous looks like he’s going to crush Mr. Octogenarian

Is that fire coming from the old man there? This game is starting to look better and better. I love the shading. Keep up the good work and congrats on your milestone. Thanks

Heh, I clicked the pause button thinking it was a movie.
Looks good, though I’m guess the pipe and cement on the wall was your “dirty” 3D modeling. Good to hear you all haven’t frozen yet.

Woot. Good job guys
I have the undeniable feeling that the old man is about to unleash some serious rape on Mr.Marvelous =D great work.

OMG! I just realised! That old man looks exactly like my freshman calculus professor. Look out Mr. Marvelous! Woodsy’s gonna integrate yo’ differentials! (we called him “Woodsy”)

Ahhh, so that’s what the game looks like. Very cool indeed! You’re using the ol bump-mapped sprite technique as well, right? Will your game be limited to cards that support pixel shaders, or do you have a fall-back planned for older, crappier cards?

Re: Dock: We’re definitely going to have a fallback. We’re also not sure to what extend we’ll be using the normal mapping. It depends on the overall visual style, which hasn’t been locked down yet. The game will probably end up looking different when its done.
