Heroes and Progress

Yes, we have a shiny new site! At the same time we’re pushing ahead with our iPhone game:
“Heroes and Villains”.

Heroes and Villains B&W Character Concepts

The art style and game design continue to evolve as we port our prototype to the iPhone hardware. Katie’s been redesigning the art so it’ll look great on the small resolution and Ian has been redesigning the gameplay so that it will play well on the limited hardware and make full use of the ‘Phone’s unique input methods. Here’s a screenshot of a basic test running my ol’ iPod Touch:

Will the final game actually look anything like this? That’s a very good question, and we won’t know the answer to that for a while! :D

The concept sounds like fun, and the art looks like fun, so I’ve got to ask: will those of us who went with the ’2 for $20′ econophone still be able to enjoy this game on a computer that doesn’t fit in our pockets?

Waywardg: We’re considering doing Mac and PC versions after… with higher resolution art and stuff. It’ll depend on how this first version goes.

I’d recommend picking up an iPod Touch though – they’re pretty awesome.

The concept art looks brilliant. Is there any more concept art for Heroes and Villains suitable/big enough for putting on my desktop?

R: There’s some wallpaper based on a poster Katie made for the game, but its in a different style:

Alec: Thanks for the swift response. I happen to have a birthday coming up, and I could use a new portable music player. I’ll keep your recommendation in mind.

Looking great Alec. We were wondering about getting into iphone game dev, but how would we test the games without an iphone/itouch? I guess its essential you have one to test out the unique iphone controls…

Andy W.: Thanks! Yeah, you can try to concept stuff out but playing with it on the ‘Phone is crucial. I just took the leap and bought an iPod Touch. Its worth it, they’re pretty cool to play around with.

BTW I think I’ll do the next video blog about iPhone development stuff. :)

I hope Mr. masked wrestler finds a way to get his belt buckle back! Maybe it could be an unlockable item for if you beat the game with him… maybe every character gets some type accessory as a reward for playing them the whole way through! Heh, my imagination running off again. If I remember, the game had something to do with controling a team, so the idea would be moot… Challenge modes! Time attack! Survival! Gotta learn to control this thing..

TwoJacks? I think you’re brilliant. It might not be within the scope of the game, but I wouldn’t have thought of that in a million years. I think IA could use you.

Best of wishes on a successful launch for Heroes + Villains!

I’m not keen on purchasing an iphone when I already have the blackberry storm, but i’m definitely excited about your work, and maybe if you guys ever feel like doing a higher resolution release for the PC I’ll definitely take a gander at it.

On that note, I’m definitely looking forward to the pc release of Marian!!!! The art work so far is absolutely stunning. I home the game mechanics run as smoothly if not better than Aquaria. It’s going to be a tough barrier to break! : )

Looks awesome. Here’s hoping it finds its way into the App Store soon (if you’re playing it on your Touch already). I can’t wait. I will definitely be tracking your progress.
