New Website

Chris has just finished his redesign of our website. You’re looking at it right now! :)

The site now contains much more functionality and it’ll be a lot more pleasant for us to make updates as well. We have Vimeo, Flickr and Twitter all nicely integrated into the right side bar. If you poke around the site you’ll notice all sorts of cool touches that Chris has integrated, like the pop-up screenshots, logins, custom-coded plugins – but most of all you’ll notice the style. This is a slick site!

The site also has some new content – for example, check out the Games page for a teaser description of Heroes and Villains. If you look around, you might find more new stuff…

Let us know what you think of the new site! Chris busted his balls chrunch-timing it the last few days, and I’m sure he’d love to hear your feedback. (you can see a small piece of his epic journey here) We’ve been manually porting over old posts and comments from our last site, but not everything is back up yet. If you notice anything out of place, please tell us about it.

Also note that you can choose to register an account to post comments with now. When we launch our forums, this account can also be used to post on them. So why not go for it now? (it means you can set up a sweet avatar for the comments too)

Enjoy, and let’s all give Chris a big pat on the back!

UPDATE: User avatar uploads now work! So go to it! Bam!

    Nice site! It’s needs some polishing here and there (e.g. I have access to the comment approval panel, although when I follow the link it denies me permission, and I found an error in the top panel on our user profiles that’s black text on dark grey) but it’s pretty nice.

    5th quarter crunch time is always the hardest but you did it! Yaay!

    Thank YOU!

    I get it now; I’m having trouble uploading my avatar! I wonder why it’s getting stuck up on a B&W 60×60 .jpg image file… Maybe it’s because I’m on OS X?

    Avatar uploads work now! Also, I found a bug in WordPress 2.7.
    In ‘wp-includes/templates.php’ at line 3171 somebody screwed up. It usually reads:

    $allowed_actions = array();
    foreach ( $actions as $action => $data ) {
    if ( current_user_can($data[1]) )
    $allowed_actions[$action] = $data[0];
    }

    Anybody see the problem here? It should read:

    $allowed_actions = array();
    foreach ( $allowed_actions as $action => $data ) {
    if ( current_user_can($data[1]) )
    $allowed_actions[$action] = $data[0];
    }

    That’s what was giving you that black text on black on the backend Jacabyte. Blah.

    Heh, looking good as always IA. Only bug I see is that at the top of all of the blog posts, the text is bunched over to the side like there’s an image between it and the other end of the post. It’s only for the first sentence though. This could be because I’m useing an outdated version of Safari (can’t upgrade unless I upgrade from OS 10.3.9). Good job Chris!

    Hm, after going to the “games” section I also see big empty spaces above the text for the games. Maybe I just can’t see the images?

    Infinite Ammo Looking Good…

    My favorite new indie game studio, Infinite Ammo, just redesigned their website. So  after you are done reading this post  go check it out! Infinite Ammo is a small, independent game studio situated in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. You might …

    @Two Jacks – Unfortunately, I don’t have a convenient way of testing old versions of Safari. The big empty spaces should be images. In the Paper Moon section, do you see any of the screenshots? There should be three of them.

    @Chris- I see, “Paper Moon Free for Windows and Mac”, then big empty space, followed by the grey quotes and a brief description of the game. So no images except for the background of the website, the little pictures over where it says, “Latest Videos” and, “Latest Photos”, the avatars people use in their comments, oh and of course the IA decal on the left side of the page.

    Two Jacks! Long time no see. :)

    Personally, I think the best course of action would be a new browser. I know Firefox works with this site, as well as Google Chrome (currently Windows only), but I suspect Camino, Opera and Internet Exploder would work too.

    Hey Jaca, nice to see a familiar face! :)
    Thanks for your suggestion, I booted the site up in Opera and it works perfectly. Now I can truly appreciate Chris’s work of elctrical insomnia!
