Howdy Y'all

Hey guys, I figured I should introduce myself, seeing as I have yet to post any content or anything cool here.

I’m Ian, and I’ve been Alec’s brother for as long as I can remember. I’m currently finishing up my computer science degree at the University of Manitoba and I’ve been working with Bit-Blot/Infinite Ammo for the past 4 months. I’ve always been passionate about video games, and to be able to work on them as a job is a pretty amazing experience. In the past, I’ve worked on flash animation, a webcomic, a number of websites, as well as a lot of coding, both for school and for various companies I’ve worked for.

Chief Artistic Battlecop

My name’s Katie De Sousa and I happily exist as the entire art department of Infinite Ammo.

Art and video games are my two favorite things in the entire world (followed closely by zombies and scented candles), so naturally having artistic dictation over a video game is the bees knees for me as far as jobs go, but what really makes me so thrilled to be 1/4 of Infinite Ammo is… the other 75% of the company. Alec, Chris, and Ian are probably the most creative and passionate people I know, and I’ve honestly never had so much fun “working” before – and that’s saying something as my job is coloring comics in my pajamas :D

So aside from doing art for my IA cohorts, and coloring comics for “various”:http://marvel.com/ “companies”:http://devilsdue.net/, what do I do? Not a whole lot. I’m a bit of a workaholic, but when I get spare time from painting I like to… paint. Hah, no I’m serious. I also like to play games, play with my camera, and read.

I have to apologize that no art from our current project can be posted just yet… it’s still a tad early and I’m super busy moving my butt from New Brunswick to Manitoba, but keep checking back, we’re gonna update the hell out of this blog. <3

The Indie Game Hype Machine

Hi everyone,

My name is Christopher Lobay and I have never made a video game before. Does this matter? Hopefully not. Why? Well, I’ve loved games as long as I’ve been conscious, and I’ve spent most of my relatively short life being a creative workaholic and making *other* things, like “a successful design firm”:http://ambientempire.com and over a dozen films.

Chris Lobay

In my spare time I ride my fixed-gear bicycle, listen to many genres of music, read books, and chase after a particularly lovely young woman. In all seriousness, I’m really just so lucky to be included in an amazing project with such wonderfully talented people.

I wanted to talk briefly about part of what I do here at Infinite Ammo: marketing. More specifically: marketing your independent games.

Regardless of the various niche opinions on the matter, in general marketing “hype” is a good thing. Simply, it gets more people playing your game. Moreso, if you’re selling your game, it makes you money, and making money lets you make more more games. And, if you’re releasing your game as freeware, it gets you noticed, and getting noticed for a job well done is really nice. In the end, everyone loves to see people buying and playing independent games, and that’s exactly what marketing helps you achieve.

Shiny New Website for a Shiny New Team

Hi there ladies and gentlemen!

I’m Alec Holowka… You may have heard about my last project, Aquaria. If you haven’t played it yet, you really should! It took me and my friend Derek Yu about two years to finish, and I’m really proud of what we managed to accomplish. Both Derek and I feel that video games are the next great art form, and we put that theory to the test through our efforts on Aquaria. Being able to successfully design, develop and release my own game was a dream come true – with the added bonus of being honored by the IGF, getting insanely positive press and meeting some really cool fans.

But right now I’m fulfilling _another_ lifelong dream – starting up a new game development team in my hometown of Winnipeg, Canada. Yeah, THAT Winnipeg! Fortunately, I managed to find three other people who are extremely gifted and who also understand the potential of video games. Katie, Chris and Ian are not only multi-talented, funny and sexy as hell – they’re also really great friends. You can find out more about all of us on the About Page.

We’ve been working on a new game for about two months now. Everyone’s pumped, and we’ve all been working our butts off to launch our website and get a leg up on development. Big ups to both Katie and Chris for putting this slick website together – especially Chris, who is probably now dead of the fever he was valiantly fighting for the last week! We’re not going to tell you what the new game is about yet, but rest assured – its going to be awesome.

This website is the home base for our journey into the crazy world of game development. Over the next year, we’ll be keeping you all up to date as best we can with behind the scenes info – in the form of blog posts, podcasts, video… Let’s just say we’ve got some big plans. ;)

So on behalf of the four of us at Infinite Ammo, we hope you stick around. I have a feeling that its going to be a great time!
